Debut single ‘Styfling’ feat. Siobhan Donaghy

The stunning talent of master production team, SQUARE1, ignites nerve tingling rapture under an awesome collaboration with founder Sugababes member, Siobhan Donaghy, who release their mind blowing debut single, ‘Styfling’ on 13 July. Delivering a unique sound cocktail of big bass lines, dark samples and heavy-duty beats as a delicious foundation to Siobhan’s delightfully crystalline vocals, ‘Styfling’, is a gripping track with a darkly addictive twist.

SQUARE1, are production duo, Silvio Pacini and Rory Cushan. Together they unite as a formidable musical entity who’s recent artist-producer collaborations have stomped an impressive footprint on the industry; including James Lavelle (Unkle), Cameron McVey, Markus Dravs and now the forthcoming union with Siobhan Donaghy. Having worked together in the past on numerous projects (Virgin Souls), the boys finally cemented their relationship last year with the formation of, SQUARE1, and are currently in-studio putting the finishing touches to their debut album which will be out later in the year.

The ethos of SQUARE1 is to create a strong, deep, dark sound with a ferocious growl, which literally grips the listener into glorious submission. ‘Styfling’ is the epitome of the SQUARE1 sound – original, unique and compelling productions bound seamlessly by the enormous vocal calibre and skill of Siobhan. With the ability to transcend from dj decks to radio airwaves, ‘Styfling’ is a track that’s set to smack all music lovers between the ears and this is just the tip of the Square 1 iceberg. ARTIST PROFILE

Less than a year ago Silvio Pacini and Rory Cushnan joined forces to create the production duo now known as SQUARE1.
Having worked together in the past on a number of projects (Virgin Souls, Sia), the boys were already well aware of each other skills but were still working as separate entities until some time later.
Silvio tells us: “It actually all came together as a concept after listening to a huge back catalogue of songs and collaborations I did which never saw the light of the day, they all had a similar sound and they all kinda fitted together...
At the time I was writing a lot of my own songs but needed to get hold of a conceptual core and I was looking for something that would glue my music and what am all about on the same wall.. “
That’s when Silvio turned up on Rory’s studio’s step with a track called Styfling.
“At that point we just knew we were onto something special” Rory adds “it was just a matter of time I guess..”
The same ferocious growl that punctuates the majority of Silvio’s productions, big bass lines, heavy beats, dark samples and cinematic sound, seamlessly marry Rory’s studio skills and vocal production into a very unique and powerful sound that is the back bone of SQUARE1.
Although Silvio and Rory are at the core of it all there is more to it “our intention is to work with many artists and to experiment with different styles, all we’re interested in doing here is to create great sounding music, however we get there is part of the journey”.
SQUARE1 are currently in the studio putting together tracks for their forthcoming album and some of their recent artist-producer collaborations include James Lavelle (Unkle), Siobhan Donaghy (Sugababes), Cameron McVey and Markus Dravs “Everybody has been very helpful and excited to be part of this project from the very start, from the featuring artists to the djs, art work and photography almost every aspect has now been covered by one of us”
